How to see an exhibition in one hour

Skip the audio guide, walk to the last room first and other heresies that work.

Most people leave a big exhibition exhausted, with a vague memory of the first three rooms. There is a better way, and it takes an hour.

Walk to the end

Go straight to the last room. It is empty, because everybody is still in the first. Then walk back slowly, against the flow, and stop only when something stops you.

Choose three works

Give yourself the right to ignore almost everything. Choose three works and spend ten minutes in front of each. You will remember them for years.

Read afterwards

Skip the labels on the way. Buy the small guide, not the catalogue, and read it at the café. Then decide whether to come back.
