Walking home across the river

The best part of any evening out is the walk home, when the film is still playing in your head.

Some evenings end in a taxi. The good ones end on foot, across a bridge, with the river below and the city lights doubled in the water.

The walk home is where the evening settles. You replay the last scene of the film, the second set, the line an actor delivered a little differently from the night before. You talk, or you do not. Either way, the city keeps you company.

Next time, take the long way. Cross the river even if you do not need to.
